INTENSIVE WORKSHOPS IN DALLAS, TX AND ONLINE
I offer an intensive workshop for individuals who want to understand their family of origin and the past's impact on their current lives. The Reclaiming Authenticity intensive format was developed by Pia Mellody for the Survivors I workshop offered at The Meadows treatment center in Wickenburg, AZ.
I also offer individualized, one-on-one single or multi-day trauma intensives customized to the needs of the client. In these intensives I may use Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, Cognitive Behavior Therapy/Cognitive Reframing, Empty Chair techniques, Inner Child work, Feeling Reduction work, and mindfulness to name a few.
I am the facilitator for workshops developed by Dr. Ken Adams for women enmeshed with a parent and for adults married to another adult who is enmeshed with a parent. Workshops for partners often deal with an adult impacted by a mother-enmeshed man (MEM), however, the workshop is designed for female or male partners of mother-enmeshed men or women, and the workshop is gender inclusive.
Background & Education
My experience includes private practice and working at a well-respected poly-addiction residential treatment center. While there, I worked with a multidisciplinary team of leading experts in trauma, substance abuse and addiction, and sexual compulsion and addiction.
To further my expertise, I trained under Pia Mellody, Senior Clinical Advisor of The Meadows, for treating family of origin developmental and relational trauma using Pia's Post Induction Therapy model.
I am trained in EMDR protocols for addiction, trauma, and dissociative identity disorder, and I recently completed my training as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). Under sex addiction pioneer Patrick Carnes, I earned my accreditation as a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and Certified Partner Trauma Therapist (CPTT) through the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals.
I have received 32 hours of specialized training in the Multi-Dimensional Partner Trauma Model to better serve partners of sex addicts and couples who are in their healing process.
My licensure includes Texas Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). I previously served as Treasurer on the Board of the Texas Association of Addiction Professionals, Dallas Chapter (TAAP). I currently serve on the Board of the Twelfth Step Ministry at the Benton Center for Spiritual Development.
As a native Texan, I grew up in Dallas and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's in Business Administration in Finance and Real Estate from the McCombs School of Business. This led to a career in investment banking and commercial real estate, eventually leading me back to Dallas to join my family's custom home-building business as Chief Financial and Operations Officer. I worked 20 years in business before returning to graduate school at The University of North Texas, where I earned a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. With this, I began pursuing my true passion for affirming, equipping, and empowering others, nurturing their full potential.
Personal Focus
Growing up in a family with a history of trauma and addiction, then experiencing divorce and single parenthood as an adult, was what first prompted me to seek transformational counseling for relational trauma and issues with codependency. As a result, I gained self-awareness, compassion, sensitivity, and interest in others that would lead me down my career path.
My priority is to be a conscientious professional who strives to gain a deep understanding of the concerns of my clients and the implications for their lives. In addition to being a competent scholar, I bring a life experience that provides intangible qualities to assist my clients in their own growth and recovery.
I am passionate about sharing my experience and education with budding therapists through site supervision and mentorship of master-level counseling students, as well as supervision for graduates who are newly minted LPC-Associates.
As a mother of four young adults, I relish seeing my children make their way in the world in all their uniqueness. I also enjoy urban organic gardening and raising chickens for eggs, which ties me to my family's history and farming heritage in North Texas. I appreciate opportunities to travel with my husband, take long walks with our canine companions, and cook and entertain family and friends in our home.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. I hope to learn more about you soon!
